Social Excursions (9-10 September)

Friday 9 September 2016
13:00 – 16:00
Bradford District
Haworth

The University of Bradford is at the heart of the city, and the wider Bradford district is diverse and fascinating, both in terms of its people and its landscape. We would like to offer Congress delegates the opportunity to visit some of these historic and cultural sites.

The Bradford district is made up of four unique areas:

  • The City of Bradford – UNESCO City of Film, rich heritage as the wool capital of the world, and a diverse, vibrant and young city. Home to the National Media Museum and the University of Bradford
  • Haworth and Bronte Country – home to the Bronte Parsonage Museum, residence of the Bronte Family from 1820
  • Ilkley and Wharfedale – at the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales, Ilkley is famous for its Moor and picturesque town
  • Saltaire and Airedale – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saltaire is a model village founded by industrialist and innovator Sir Titus Salt

You can find further information on our Discover Bradford pages and the Visit Bradford website.

As part of the Congress the University of Bradford offered opportunities to explore our unique heritage, culture and landscapes by organising social excursions for delegates on either Friday 9 September (PM only) and Saturday 10 September.
