Prof. Dr. Zaini Ahmad

Professor Zaini Ahmad is the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Zaini has been involving in the leadership and management at faculty and university level for years. He has significant experience of working in higher education emphasizing on producing holistic and global talents, engagement with industries and communities as well as advancing the quality of research and innovation. Computational solid mechanics is of his primary research interest. Other areas of expertise are crashworthiness, impact mechanics and lightweight materials for impact applications. Currently, he is a principal investigator for various research grants in her niche area dan has been publishing numbers of refereed scientific publications and conference proceedings with Elsevier, Springer, SAGE, etc. Dr. Ahmad currently has registered with Institution of Mechanical (IMechE) as Charted Engineer (CEng) professional membership. He is also currently a registered Professional Engineer (PEng) in Malaysia. He completed B.Eng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknnologi Malaysia in 2001 and M.Sc in Structures, Impact and Crashworthiness from Cranfield University, United Kingdom in 2004. He had also been conferred with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2009 from Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia in the research field of structural impact and crashworthiness.
