Professor Dr Shamsul Sahibuddin

Prof Dr Shamsul is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs) for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Shamsul obtained his PhD in Software Engineering from Aston University, U.K. Prior to that; he graduated with a Master of Science in Computer Science from Central Michigan University. His undergraduate qualification is a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Western Michigan University. He joined Mesiniaga Sdn. Bhd., sole agent dealer for IBM in Malaysia, in 1988 as Programmer Analyst. His responsibility was to design and develop software for the personal computer platform.

His 38 years of involvement in Information Technology started in 1982 when the PC industry was in its infancy. His interest now is in the area of Software Engineering, focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and their application in the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Dr. Sh. Fay Al Khalifa

Dr. Fay Bint Abdulla Al Khalifa is the Director of the eLearning Center at the University of Bahrain. She leads two teams of specialists and multimedia experts and is playing an active role in managing the digital transformation process at the University throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. She has an extended experience in executive leadership, higher education, and scientific research. She is also an Assistant Professor with a Master’s degree in Building Conservation and Urban Regeneration and a Ph.D. in Sustainable Urbanism. Her research aspires to contribute to the understanding of Smart Sustainable Urbanism. Dr. Al Khalifa was part of a team that won the Golden Lion award in the Venice Biennially in 2010, and she was awarded RIBA’s president’s award for research in 2012. Dr. Al-Khalifa was also awarded the Emerging Scholar Award in 2018 and the Smart Urbanism Award in 2019. Under her leadership, the University of Bahrain won the Blackboard Catalyst Award for Leading Change in 2020. Dr. Fay Bint Abdulla obtained a number of professional certificates in Sales and Marketing Management, Commercial Real Estate Development, FinTech, the Application of AI, InsurTech, and Real Estate Technology. All in addition to being a certified expert in blockchain technologies by the Blockchain Council, a fellow of the British Academy of Higher Education and an Associate of the American Green Building Council. Dr. Fay Bint Abdullah represents the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Secretariat of the Committee of E-Learning Officials in Universities and Higher Education Institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and represents the University of Bahrain in several committees nationally. Dr. Al Khalifa is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Smart Cities Society and a member of the Board of Directors of the UK Alumni Network of the British Council in Bahrain. She is also a member of a number of other specialized societies such as the Bahrain Technology and Business Society and the Bahrain Society of Engineers.

Miss Kawthar Naser

I’m Kawthar Naser. A 20 year old student in Ahlia University. Currently I’m doing my final course in BSc of Computer and Communication Engineering. Programming and app development is what I’m actually interested in, so that’s what I do most of the day. I also have a passion for clay, so I run a small business of handmade pottery.

Associate Professor Worawat Meevasana

Assoc. Prof. Worawat Meevasana has received his Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University. He has been a faculty member at School of Physics, Suranaree University of Technology since 2010 and was the dean at the Institute of Science during 2017-2021. His interests are on exploring the quantum states of advanced materials, using synchrotron radiation techniques and quantum technologies in general. Some of the applications from understanding these states are on quantum sensors and energy storages (e.g. supercapacitors and batteries). He has published over 60 papers in high impact journals (e.g. nature materials, applied physics reviews, nano letters and physical review letters) with approximately 4000 citations. Recently he has also been helping Thailand by applying his knowledge in energy storages to the communities in national parks, farms, industrial factories and household applications.

Mr Ayman Alkhuzaei

Ayman al khuzaei is a student at Ahlia University. He is currently studying Management information systems, he is an established entrepreneur in the kingdom of Bahrain in the service,automobile and manufacturing business. He is the current CEO of woodco interiors, a company based in the kingdom of Bahrain. He also serves as a member of the board of directors at Start car leasing.

Miss Leanne Renz Malamog

Leanne Renz Garay Malamog is an undergraduate civil engineering student at Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Thailand under the institution’s international engineering program. She is from the Philippines and was selected to be one of the students granted a scholarship to study in SUT. She was an active student leader in her previous schools and outside organizations. She is an enthusiast for climate change topics– recently attending competitions relating to such: WTUN climate hackathon and Climate Science Olympiad. With this enthusiasm, she is currently working on a term/research paper in the field of “Smart Buildings” and “Clean Energy Transition”.

Mr Wan Choy Chee

Mr Chee Wan Choy is pursuing PHD in Chemical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Currently, he is in the 4th semesters of his study and focusing on the organic wastes resource optimization studies related to Pinch Analysis.

Associate Professor Mohd Ariffin Abu Hasan

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from UMIST, the United Kingdom in 2004. Presently, he is the Director for UTM International in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. His office is responsible for any matters regarding internationalisation in the university.

Professor Dr Abd Latif Saleh

Abd Latif Saleh is the Pro-Vice Canceler of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur campus. Before he was Assistant Dean (Quality and Strategy), Faculty of Engineering, Director of Work, Office of Asset and Development and other administration work at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He received his Ph.D in Civil Engineering from University of Portmouth, United Kingdom, Master Degree (Structure) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Thames Polytechnic, United Kingdom. His research interest is more on Construction Management, Structural Analysis and Design and Numerical Analysis especially on Building Information Modelling. He has published more than 85 papers in international and national journals. He is member of Board of Engineer Malaysia and Malaysia Board of Technologists.

Mr Muhammad Imran Ismail

Muhammad Imran is a PhD student at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia, working on optimization of solar thermal technology for energy resource conservation. He received a degree in Engineering (Chemical) from UTM in 2007 and an M.Sc. in Engineering in Chemical and Biochemical from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Denmark, in 2013. Previously, he worked as a process engineer in the palm oil refining industry. His research interests consist of sustainable process design, solar thermal and green energy. He has been awarded as a Professional Technologist (Green Energy) from the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) in 2020.
