Dr Adnan Al-Jubouri

Dr Adnan Al-Jubouri – Applied linguist, EFL specialist, teacher trainer, textbook writer, discourse analysis researcher and reading consultant. Former Dean of the College of Languages at Baghdad University (Iraq). He did his master’s degree in linguistics and ELT at Leeds University (England) and his PhD in contrastive textology at Aston University (England). He taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Baghdad University (Iraq), the Hashemite University (Jordan), Bahrain University (Bahrain) and is currently an associate professor at Ahlia University (Bahrain). His main achievements include writing EFL textbooks for the Iraqi Ministry of Education, producing various guides for in-service teacher training, initiation of the Speed Reading Unit (Baghdad University) and the design of speed reading methodology and courses, preparation and presentation of English learning TV programmes for school students on Iraqi Educational television, long experience (9 years: 1991-2000) in writing English language placement tests for postgraduate applicants at Iraqi universities, special translation consultancy to the Minister of Higher Education, Iraq (1994-2000), acting as a peer reviewer of academic journal papers, and supervision of PhD and MA students. His research interests include text linguistics and discourse analysis (esp. contrastive and intercultural studies, including those of contrastive rhetoric), ELT (including ESP), reading (including speed reading), EFL testing, Corpus-based language research and English grammar.

Dr Latha Krishnan

Dr Latha Krishnan is a Research Fellow at Coventry University, Functional Material Group. She was awarded a full EPRSC scholarship to carry out a successful PhD in Materials Science from The University of Bolton (UK), which was completed in 2016. Dr Krishnan holds M. Tech in Fibre Science Technology (with distinction) from reputed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. Dr Krishnan’s research experience includes working as Senior Executive in Business Research & Development for a multinational company (SRF Limited) in India for 2 years and developed heat resistant nano composite fibres for tyre cord applications. She has published 11 high impact journal papers of Polymer Degradation and Stability, RSC Advances and Materials Science with h-index-6 and 124 citations. She has presented at five international conferences. Within her time at Coventry University, She has made significant contribution to four UK and EU interdisciplinary research projects (funding from H2020, Innovate UK and APC) and led work-packages within them as a Research Fellow. Recognising her abilities in research, she has been nominated to be the Early Career Researcher representative of the Doctoral College and Centre for Research Capability and Development Steering Committee at Coventry University. She is a ethics reviewer at Coventry University and a reviewer for the Polymer Journal.
