Dr Jaikumar Mayakrishnan

Dr. M. Jaikumar is an accomplished academic leader and researcher with over 23 years of experience in teaching, research, and international collaboration. As the Head of the Department of Automobile Engineering and Dean of International Affairs at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), he has been instrumental in advancing academic excellence, fostering global partnerships, and promoting innovation in automotive research.

His areas of expertise include alternative fuels, emission control, vehicle safety, and sustainable mobility systems. He has published over 70 Scopus-indexed papers, filed a patent on dual-fuel engine design, and guided multiple doctoral scholars. Dr. Jaikumar has successfully led prestigious funded projects under the European Union’s International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC) and the DAAD (Germany), focusing on traffic infrastructure and vehicle safety innovations.

Under his leadership, the Department of Automobile Engineering at HITS has established significant industry collaborations, including the Royal Enfield Experiential Training Hub and partnerships with GARC and other global institutions.

A recipient of several accolades including the Young Teacher Award, Collaborative Research Promotion Award, and Covid Warrior Award, Dr. Jaikumar continues to inspire academic and research excellence.
