Paul McNama is a Research, Development and Innovation Engineer at Atlantic Technological University, working within the university’s Contract Research Unit (CRU). With over 16 years of experience in design and engineering, Paul has supported communities, public bodies, and businesses in developing innovative solutions through user-centred and sustainability-focused approaches.

Paul has played a key role in delivering national, European, and international research projects, with a particular emphasis on sustainable innovation and community engagement. Paul’s work is grounded in design-led methodologies that prioritise the needs and experiences of end users, ensuring practical impact and relevance across sectors.

Paul holds a degree in Industrial Design from the Institute of Technology, Sligo, and a Master of Arts in Design & Sustainable Transport from the Atlantic Technological University. Their areas of expertise include sustainable design, collaborative innovation, and the integration of research into real-world applications.

Paul is passionate about harnessing design to address complex societal challenges and is committed to fostering inclusive, user-driven innovation that creates meaningful change.
