Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Pantke
For many years, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Pantke has been working at the interface between materials, design and production.
Born in Wickede an der Ruhr, Klaus Pantke first studied “Logistics” with a focus on production logistics and parallel to this “Industrial Engineering” at the Technical University of Dortmund (TU Dortmund). In his undergraduate studies, he focused on materials engineering, design and production. After completing both study programs, he remained at the TU Dortmund and worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Machining Technology (ISF). There, he dealt with the development of tools and processes as well as the influence of the manufacturing process on materials. In the course of numerous projects and research work with industry, he was able to combine his research activities with a wide range of practical experience. In addition, he supervised numerous student research projects and diploma theses and was at the same time coordinator of the study program “Industrial Engineering”.
After completing his doctoral thesis, in which Klaus Pantke developed a new type of sensor coating for temperature measurement in tools (German title: Entwicklung und Einsatz eines temperatursensorischen Beschichtungssystems für Zerpsanwerkzeuge), he was able to gain further experience in research and teaching as a senior engineer in the field of Materials Testing Technology, also at the TU Dortmund. In particular, he was responsible for acquiring research and industrial projects, while also serving as deputy head of the department. Here, too, the influence of manufacturing processes and operational stress on the properties of components and materials formed a major focus of his research work Prof. Pantke also gained extensive teaching experience by participating in the establishment of an international master’s program.
Before taking over the professorship ” Design and Production Engineering ” at Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences on 1 April 2018, Prof. Pantke was a group leader at thyssenkrupp Rothe Erde GmbH in the area of research and development. The development, manufacture and testing of large rolling bearings with diameters of several meters as well as their components were the focus of his industrial activities there. The main focus was on the service life of corresponding products while optimizing manufacturing and design conditions. Since 1 March 2022, he has been Vice President for Research and Transfer at Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.
Professor Pantke is the author of numerous scientific publications and lectures at international conferences.
