Iwekumo Agbozu

Prof. Iwekumo E. Agbozu, a Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Waste Management. He has worked as a lecturer at the Department of Chemical Sciences, Niger Delta University and Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE). A one-time Head of the Department and former Director of SIWES, Prof. Agbozu is currently the Dean, College of Science, FUPRE. This is in addition to several University committees where he has either served as Chairman or member. He has presented papers in several local and international conferences, and has over 50 national and international publications including conference proceedings. He has also acted as an adroit reviewer for several international journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology.

Prof. Agbozu is also an Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM), UK and a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN); Nigerian Environmental Society (NES); Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) and Environmental Management Association of Nigeria (EMAN). He has travelled widely and has attended several International Workshops, Trainings and Exhibitions. A renowned Environmental Consultant, Prof. Agbozu has served either as Chairman or member of several EIA Reviews Panels organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment.

CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS
1. Waste to Wealth research, where materials considered to be wastes have been used to address environmental pollution problems;
2. Toxicological studies of inorganic pollutants such as heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants (PAHs, PCBs and OCPs) in various environmental segments and biota.
3. Atmospheric Chemistry and Environmental Assessment studies
