Professor José Daniel Melo

Daniel Melo is Professor of Materials Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte – UFRN in BRAZIL. Prof. Melo earned his PhD. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and was a visiting professor/researcher in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University from 2008 to 2019. He advised many graduate students, published books and numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings in the field of Composite Materials. Daniel Melo has been Rector of UFRN – BRAZIL since 2019 and was President of the National Association of Rectors of Federal Higher Education Institutions in Brazil (2024-2025).
