Overview of University
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) began as an Industrial Training Institution in 1992. Today, KIIT provides professional education to over 40,000 students from across India and the globe. The university delivers high quality teaching alongside community outreach work. It’s campus, the greenest in India, is formed of a 36-square kilometre academic township with a speciality hospital, central research facility, research and innovation wing and sport complexes.
KIIT’s vision is: “To create an advanced centre of professional learning of international standing where pursuit of knowledge and excellence shall reign supreme, unfettered by the barriers of nationality, language, cultural plurality and religion.” They achieve this through a global perspective, fostering entrepreneurship and societal responsibility, and imbibing skills for solving real life problems.

Research Focuses
KIIT is committed to high-quality research and provides outstanding facilities and a supportive environment for it’s staff and student researchers. KIIT’s research portfolio includes rural management; physical activity and nutrition; education; and social and mental health.
KIIT has a number of ongoing research projects which address various SDGs. These include:
- SDG 8: Decent work and Economic Growth: Impact of Dynamic Capability on Success of Entrepreneurs: A Study of Small and Medium Manufacturers in Odisha.
- SDG 10: Reduced inequalities: Projects in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR): Roles and Impact of Asha Workers in Combating Covid 19: Case Study Bhubaneswar
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities: Social determiners of water Inequity:-A systematic investigation at Bhubaneswar.

International Relations
KIIT has a number of formal cooperation agreements with institutions in South Asian nations and worldwide. As an institution, they are a member of national and international organizations including: European Association of International Education (EAIE), Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Academic Affiliate of The IET (UK) and of ABET (USA), and United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI).
They collaborate with international universities such as Trinity College, London, Reykjavik University (Iceland), University of Cambodia, University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and with corporate organizations such as Siemens India, Microsoft, and IBM.
