Overview of University 

Majan University College (MUC), established in 1995 as the first private university college in Oman is a national leader in educational quality. Their campus, in Darsait in the city of Muscat, Oman is a multi-cultural academic community offering undergraduate and Master programmes. MUC is an accredited college of the University of Bedfordshire (UK) and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MOHERI), Oman. 

University Structure 

Research Focuses 

Sustainability is an integral component of MUC’s Strategic Plan, guided by the College’s institutional value of ‘inclusivity’, the UN’s SDGs and Oman’s Vision 2040. Alongside quality education, the plan emphasises productive partnerships with local community, industry and other educational providers, innovation, environmental sustainability and sustainable development. 

Most of MUC’s research is funded by Oman’s Research Council (TRC), which funds applied research responding to the social and economic needs of society, supporting Oman’s vision to become a regional hub for innovation. TRC promotes interdisciplinary research and international research collaborations. Current MUC research projects include: 

  • The impact of tourism development on coastal communities 
  • Using explainable AI to enhance fault diagnosis in PLC based automation systems 
  • Developing AI and ML based early detection models for disease in fruit trees

International Relations 

MUC has global formal cooperation agreements with other universities and is developing such agreements within the region of Oman. They have partners within the United Kingdom, including University of Bedfordshire and University of Bradford.  

MUC also formally collaborate internationally through Networks and Associations such as Advance HE (UK), British Council (UK), and European Network of Academic Integrity (ENAI).
