Overview of the University
University of Newcastle (UON) is a multi-campus University based in Australia with campuses in Newcastle, Central Coast, and Sydney in Australia and an overseas campus in Singapore. Research Focuses
UON’s research priorities reflect the mission-driven issues that they, as an institution, have the capacity, expertise and civic responsibility to address. Researchers at UON are working towards a healthier, sustainable and connected future and the institution has outlined 4 Engagement Priorities that guide their research and partnership efforts:
- Better, healthier living: to deliver better health outcomes and contribute to improving the wellbeing of communities
- Connected communities: creating a stronger, more inclusive society by collaborating with communities to build local capacity, social connectedness, and sense of belonging
- Next generation resources: bringing the world closer to a sustainable future with solutions for the use of natural resources and the development of new energy technologies
- Growing Industries: harnessing the regions’ innovative spirit and history of transformation to help grow current industries and drive investment into future opportunities
International Relations
UON has a number of regional partnerships, working with community and industry partners. The University also has global partnerships and formal cooperation agreements, including with Pusan National University (South Korea), Nihon University (Japan), University of Waikato (New Zealand), a Pacific Partnership which collaborates with the Cook Islands, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and French Polynesia.
