Dr Tze Chuen Yap

Tze Chuen Yap is an associate professor in Mechanical Engineering at School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. He is a Chartered Engineer with Engineering Council U.K. (ECUK), member of IMechE since 2013, professional engineer with Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM), and member of IEM (MIEM). He is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK (FHEA). His research interests are in dry friction and wear, cryogenic tribology, additive manufacturing, and non conventional manufacturing. Currently he is working on enhancement of additive manufactured parts.

Ms Dewi Arual

Dewi Arual has been with HWUM as a Assistant Professor for a little over 4 years and her research interest is in work intensification with a special focus on ICT. She is a fellow of ICSA (Australia) and the Institute of Corporate Governance (Australia).

Dr Asokan R

Professor and Head of the department of School of Aeronautical Sciences, at HITS. Area of interest includes composite materials, drones , structures and maintenance. published 45 papers in journals and conferences. Worked on project with Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Previously have the experience of Airframe maintenance

Professor Richard Williams

His background is an academic and entrepreneur in mineral engineering, energy storage systems and environmental technologies. He is a graduate of Imperial College (BSc (Eng), PhD) and has held posts at University of Manchester (UMIST),  University of Exeter (Camborne School of Mines), and as Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Leeds (2005-2011) and at the University of Birmingham (2011-2015). He has founded several innovation based business including two  PLCs.

He is a Fellow Academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (Australia) and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He is an Advisor to the UK Board of Trade. He has worked extensively in establishing new educational and research collaborations in Middle East, Africa, Singapore, Malaysia and China. He is a visiting professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing), Tianjin University of Finance & Economics and at Southeast University (Nanjing). He is an Advisory Board member of the Lloyds Register Foundation, Lloyds Register 100A1 Ambassador, a Non-Executive Board Director of the British Geological Survey, a member of the Converge Challenge Strategic Advisory Board and Chair and a Director of the Scottish Institute for Enterprise.

He is an editor of Minerals Engineering, Particuology and Institution of Chemical Engineering CHERD Journal.

Dr Gillian Murray

Dr Gillian Murray joined Heriot-Watt University in October 2016 to lead on the development and implementation of the University’s Enterprise and Business Engagement Strategy, mobilising the University’s intellectual and capital assets to effect greater impact regionally, nationally and globally. The position leads the University’s strategic vision of being a world-leading institution developing entrepreneurial students and staff who addressing global challenges to drive transformational social and economic benefits. Gillian has a background in economic regeneration and is passionate about driving global innovation and skills development using new digital technology to break down collaboration barriers and facilitate co-invention. Whilst at the University of Liverpool, Gillian built innovative new models for Business/University collaboration, transforming the city region through strategic partnerships and supply chain development. Whilst at Heriot Watt, Gillian has led a number of major innovation and skills initiatives including, positioning the University as a leading provider of Graduate Apprentices in Scotland, building a global innovation ecosystem and partnership network (GRID), transforming online education and creating new flexible upskilling opportunities in key emerging sectors. She is a founding member of the Centre for Work Based Learning, working with partners in Scotland to enhance opportunity through work based learning.

Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi

Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi is currently the Provost and CEO at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia. His research interests include thermofluids, renewable energy, biomechanical engineering, engineering education and academic leadership. He is an Honorary Chair at the School of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Birmingham (UK) and the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Engineering Science & Technology. Professor Al-Atabi published three books, “Shoot the Boss,” “Think Like an Engineer” and “Driving Performance” and he has numerous research publications, awards and honours. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) and a member of the Global Engineering Deans Council. Professor Al-Atabi is an innovative educator, he pioneered the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) and delivered the first MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) in Malaysia. Under his leadership, Taylor’s School of Engineering became the first non US school to have a Grand Challenges Scholar Programme aimed at developing graduates able to address the 14 Grand Challenges for engineers in the 21st Century. He trains executives from Multinational Corporations including banks and energy companies.

Dr Litty Mathew Shibu

Litty completed a Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and a Master’s degree in Hospital Administration from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India. She holds a PhD from Brunel university, London in Knowledge translation. Her research interests are Knowledge management, Continuing Professional Development and Teaching, Learning & Assessment in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). She is currently working as an Asst. Professor, College of Business & Finance, Coordinator, Center for Teaching & Learning at Ahlia University, Bahrain.

Mr Osamu Sugiyama

Osamu SUGIYAMA is a general manager, Division of Global Initiatives, Shibaura Institute of Technology. His responsibility is to enhance globalization of the institute under the framework of Top Global University Project initiated by Japan MEXT. The main task is to build various strategies and plans of globalization for faculty, staff and students, and carry out them. He is also a person in charge of Administrative Office of GTI Consortium which is a worldwide alliance among industry, academia and governmental agency. By utilizing experiences working for an international trading company, he is struggling to enhance the quality of global education for science and technology.

Sarah Howe

Sarah is the Assistant Vice-President, Innovation & Research Partnerships. She is a business development professional with extensive experience fostering innovation and developing strategic business operations. Sarah successfully created an innovation office at York University that provides a myriad of services across the university. She has created and grown a pan-university educational entrepreneurship programs, developed and manages a start-up incubator, as well as a 10,000 square foot innovation centre. In addition, Sarah is co-lead for the strategic development of innovation and entrepreneurship across the York University campus.

Professor David Kofi Essumang

Prof. David Koli Essumang holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Chemistry from the Aalborg University of Denmark and a Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) in Chemistry, as well as B.Sc. in Chemistry and Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast. He had his secondary school education at Agona Nsaba Presbyterian Secondary School and St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast for the ‘0’ and ‘A’ Level Certificates respectively. Published over 80 peer reviewed articles in over 50 different journals all over the world. At University of Cape Coast, he is the most cited on SCOPUS database and the second most cited by Google Scholar. Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences which is on the flagship journals published by UCC. He is a reviewer for several Elsevier Journals. Ghana’s correspondent for World Library of Toxicology and Ghana’s representative of international Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) He has won some international awards (IUPAC Young Chemist Travelling Award, Royal Society of Chemistry, U. K.
