WTUC2022 Opening Session and SUT Campus Visits

Delegates who will not attend the WTUN Operational Board Meeting will be collected from the Kantary Hotel and driven to SUT’s campus in time for the Opening Session.

The welcome part of this session will be available to online delegates

Welcome to WTUC2022 by Professor Peter Scharff, Chair WTUN and welcome address and greeting by SUT Rector Associate Professor Dr Anan Tongraar (via video)SUT

Followed by a brief introduction of WTUC2022 by Director, Center for International Affairs

Immediately following the WTUC Welcome address, delegates are invited to join their pre-registered groups for the campus tours.

 

 

Group visits to one of the following:

  • Cannabis and Hemp Production Hub (Research Commercialisation)

With recent legalisation of cannabis and hemp in the country to improve the well-being of the public sustainably, SUT is among the leading institutions to kick off its research on cannabis and hemp production for medical use and food, as well as hempcrete for green construction. Here, visitors will get to visit the cannabis and hemp crops in the university built international standard greenhouses where the plants are grown for traditional Thai herbal medicines for local hospitals and businesses.

  • Digital Technology Labs (Education)

Experiential learning encourages an effective and engaging learning tool for students in the disruptive digital learning era. Here, at the Digital Technology Labs, visitors will get to visit the newest campus building on the block located at the scenic reservoir which exhibits immersive AR/VR experiential learning tools for nursing courses and the Thai Study Hall as well as experience SUT’s very own metaverse on Velaverse, developed by SUT.

  • EV Charging Stations and Solar floats (Green Campus)

An initiative to promote green campus, visitors will get to visit SUT’s prototype of the electric vehicle charging station developed by the Center for Advanced Nanomaterials and characterisation. SUT has been committed to converging research to high impact and value innovations while maintaining sustainable growth. The prototypes of the EV charging stations and floating stations are examples of clean energy for campus usage and transportation. The charging stations have been installed to support small EV usage at Khao Yai National Park and used as a model for future smart city of Korat.

  • SEDA@Innovation Playground (Entrepreneurship)

Visit the creativity hub at the heart of the university where endless possibilities and doors of opportunities are created at SUT’s Student Entrepreneurship Development Academy (SEDA). Here, inspiring events are held from Ideathons, Hackathons, Start Up Camps, Demo Days, hard skills and soft skills capacity building workshops, to develop entrepreneurship mindset and skillset to build entrepreneurial students/researchers, start ups and spin offs at SUT.
